About

I’m a Ph.D. student in cultural anthropology at the University of Connecticut, working on a dissertation about the use of volunteer tourism (or “voluntourism”) in a Guatemalan women’s weaving cooperative. I hope that this blog can be a place for me to share my developing research ideas, keep track of interesting and relevant information on my topic, and start a conversation with my participants, other scholars, and people interested in Guatemalan Mayan weavings, the anthropology of tourism and tourist art, and ethnographic fieldwork.
